redesigning the classics

Check out these beautiful covers designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. She re-designed all the classics for Penguin books a few years back, and I've just discovered them. The patterns and color combinations are really beautiful. Here is her site { www.cb-smith.com/ } or can be purchased here are penguin { www.penguin.com }

Along with fall and winter, comes the emergence of adorable boots, booties, and heels that are so wonderful to pair with leggings and tights. Take a look at some of my favorite from modcloth. new bags & exciting news!

Hi everyone, great news! My products are going to be in a small consignment store, {The Crafter's Cottage}out in Wayzata, MN! If you're in need for some cold weather gear, one of my scarves, hats or earwarmers would be perfect. I will also be producing more bags. Pictured here is my large tote, the Esther Tote, and my brand new silhouette, the Carla Crossbody. All the products in my line, Honey Lane, are named after women in my family. Just as Honey Lane is the name of the street I grew up on, and my parents still live today. :) The holidays are right around the corner as well, and any of my items would make great gifts. Just sayin.

maija fiebig

Here is an artist I really love. Her paintings are so beautiful. I admire how she incorporates texture, ornate patterns, yet still creates negative space that calms. If you have a moment check out her stunning work {www.maijafiebig.com}

No Coast Craft-o-Rama

I just applied to get into the No Coast Craft-o-Rama craft fair that is held here in Minneapolis every December. Here are the pics I sent in. Soon these items will be available on etsy!

headband frenzy

I have been busily creating these headbands to sell on etsy. I love them! They are just the right addition to any outfit. I cover them with vintage fabric, finish the interior edges with ribbon, and add my signature hand made fabric flowers. I'm hoping to get into the No Coast Craft-O-Rama here in Minneapolis. I'm sending in my application this weekend. Wish me luck!

my kids

Look at these two. They are so precious.
I couldn't pass up this photo op. To think they couldn't tolerate each other for the fist 6 months.

jill & brandon wedding invitations

I am currently wrapping up wedding invitations for my dearest friend from high school, Jill, and her fiance, Brandon. An earlier post on my blog I shared the inspiration board options I gave them. They chose Modern Romance, so here is my interpretation. I am almost finished assembling. I think they turned out really well, and can't wait for her to distribute!

fabric flowers

When I have a free moment I try to work on my fabric flowers for my Honey Lane Etsy shop. I plan to make pins, hats, scarves, headbands, etc...accessories made from scratch, as my slogan says. Here is a close up of a few that I got started during the rainy days while I was on vacation.

what a ham

my nephew while we were on vacation last month at a lake house in McGregor, MN. My husband made him this lil' paper hat, and he somehow knew he was on display.

new office/studio

A few weeks ago i moved my office/studio up from the basement. It was a room shuffle, and a lot of work. We had to move my husband's office/studio where mine used to be, move the guest bedroom down to his old space, and then move my stuff up to the old guest bedroom. whew! I haven't finished decorating or organizing, but it's getting there. I'm really excited about what I'll accomplish in my new space. Especially since I can have my little Lola bear next to me on her bed. Happy Monday everyone!

under construction

please forgive the look of my site for a while. I'm in the process of customizing a template, and I'm having to dig into the depths of my brain to remember HTML from my "Design for the Web" class in college. hope everyone is having a good summer! I am! As I've resigned from my full time job to be a freelance designer and have more time to work on my own stuff! yeah! here's a look at the headbands I've been making. I just applied to be in the Crafty Bastard craft fair in Washington DC with my friend Angie who lives in Maryland. Hopefully we get in! It would be a great launch for my Honey Lane products. Happy Summer!

amy butler decor

I'm a huge fan of the textile designer amy butler, so when I found out she launched her own bedding/home decor line, of course I coveted it! She has several beautiful collections combining her great, uplifting color sense, as well as her bold patterns that are the perfect balance of modern and vintage. Check out her site {amy butler} and buy her products here! {bed, bath, & beyond}
